Beulah’s ISO Fire Rating Improves
The Beulah Fire District takes pleasure in informing you of improvements in the district’s fire protection score. The Insurance Service Office (ISO) recently released a new Public Protection Classification (PPC) for the Beulah Fire District, lowering (improving) the district’s rating from a Class 6/9, assigned in 2012, to a Class 4/10. This rating was accomplished through several vital improvements to the district’s training program, apparatus fleet, and water system.
The (Class 4) rating applies to properties within five (5) miles of a recognized fire station with no hydrant distance requirement. The (10) rating applies to properties that are over five (5) road miles from a recognized fire station. The Class 4 designation puts the Beulah Fire District in one of the top tier percentages in the nation for fire protection. In addition to providing an indication of the quality of fire service, the ISO rating is an important factor used by insurance companies to determine home and business owner insurance rates. Savings to the individual will vary according to the insurance company, so you’ll need to check with your insurance company for your information. ISO looks at many factors when assigning a fire protection rating, including distribution of fire stations, firefighter staffing, water supply and communications capabilities. The Beulah Fire District continuously seeks to improve district fire protection in these and a number of additional ways including public education, routine fire inspections of local businesses, and continued recruitment and training of new volunteer firefighters. Attached is a map of the district that contains the 5 mile polygon showing the coverage area. Please contact Beulah Fire District at 334-742-0090 if there are any questions.
